Report No. 42 136. Amendment of section 337.- In section 337 of the Cod.- (a) for the words "six months", the words "one year" shall be substituted; (b) the words "which may extend to five hundred rupees" shall be omitted. 137. Amendment of section 338.- In section 338 of the Code.- (a) for the words "two years" the words "three years" shall be substituted. (b) the words "which may extend to one thousand rupees" shall be omitted. 138. Substitution of new sections for sections 341 to 344.- For sections 341 to 344 of the Code, the following sections shall be substituted, namely.- "341. Punishment for wrongful restraint.- Whoever wrongfully restrains any person, shall be punished with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees; and, if the offence is jointly committed by ten or more persons, every one of them shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both. 342. Punishment for wrongful confinement.- Whoever wrongfully confines any person shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both; and, if the offence is jointly committed by ten or more persons, every one of them shall be punished with imprisonment for either description for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine. 343. Wrongful confinement for five days or more.- Whoever wrongfully confines any person for five days or more, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine." 139. Substitution of new heading for the heading above section 349.- For the heading "Of criminal force and Assault" above section 349, the heading "assault" shall be substituted.    |
