Report No. 42 25.2. Draft of Amendment Bill.- A draft of a Bill to amend the Indian Penal Code, designed to implement all the recommendations made by us, is annexed to this Report. We were gratified to note that special steps were taken by the Government on our last Report on the Code of Criminal Procedure, and legislation to replace the existing Code of 1898 by a new Code as recommended by us is well on its way. It would be in the fitness of things if the Penal Code could be revised and brought up-to-date by the present Parliament and we would therefore recommend to Government that equally expeditious action may be taken in this behalf. Note By Mrs. Anna Chandi |
