1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Police Act, 1949. (2) It extends to all the 3[Union territories]. (3) It shall come into force in a 4[Union territory] on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf for 5[such territory].    |
