The Punjab District Boards Act, 1883 15. Filling of casual vacancies.- (1) When the place of an elected member of a local board or district board becomes vacant by the resignation or removal of the member or by his death, a new member shall be chosen in accordance with 'the rules made by the Local Government under this Act to fill the place: Provided that the Local Government may direct in any such case that the vacancy shall be left unfilled. (2) When the place of a member of a local board or district board appointed by name becomes vacant as aforesaid, the Local Government may, if it thinks fit, appoint a new member to fill the place. (3) A person chosen or appointed under this section to fill a casual vacancy shall hold office until the person whose place he fills would regularly have gone out of office, and shall then go out of office, but shall be again eligible for election or appointment.    |
