Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961

1. Short tile, extent and commencement-

(1) This Act may be called the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

(2) It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir .

(3) It shall come into force on such date (Note: It came into force on 1^st July, 1961) as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
