6. Insertion of new section 26A. After section 26 of the principal Act, the following section shall be inserted, namely: "26. Transitional provisions for Commissioners of, and general election to, Imphal Municipal Board. Notwithstanding anything in this Act or in any notification, rule or order issued or made thereunder, (a) the Commissioners of the Imphal Municipal Board holding office immediately before the commencement of the Assam Municipal (Manipur Amendment) Act, 1961 shall cease to hold office on and on and form such date as the Chief Commissioner may be notification in the Manipur Gazette specify; (b) the general election of Commissioners of that Board to be held for the first time after such commencement shall be held and completed before such date as the Chief commissioner may by a like notification specify.".    |
